Ostend is a seaside resort in the northwest coast of Belgium. It has a long sandy beach and a pier that extends into the sea. There is a busy fishing harbour and one of the ships in the harbour, the Mercator, can be visited. The main shopping area is in the streets to the north of the yacht harbour, where students can buy typical Belgian products, such as lace and chocolate.
